  • Workshop in Model Theory at Universidad de los Andes. From July 23 to August 20 2003 a Workshop in Model Theory will be held, organized by Alf Onshuus. As a preliminary activity, Alf Onshuus and Andrés Villaveces will teach two intensive courses in
    • Model Theory of Stable Fields (A. Onshuus), and
    • Excellent Classes and Classification (A. Villaveces)
See more in the workshop webpage.
  • Martin Ziegler at UniAndes(29.1.2): Martin Ziegler will visit the Universidad de los Andes for two months (15/2 to 15/4). He will lecture on stability in alg. and diff. closed fields in Luis Jaime Corredor's Stability Seminar. Details: check here.
  • Logic Seminar(29.1.2): we focus this semester on pcf and if time permits some blocks of the main gap in the omega-stable case. Details: check here.
  • BOMMT2001 pictures (for the curious:)(29.1.2): Rami Grossberg has posted in his webpage some pictures taken during the BOMMT: check here.
  • BOMMT 2001 (27.11.1): Bogotá Meeting in Model Theory, Universidad Nacional,Bogotá, December 10 to 15, 2001. The Bogotá Model Theory Meeting is devoted centrally (though not excusively) to Model Theory for Non Elementary Classes. The main aim of the meeting is to exchange information on the current status of Model Theory for Non Elementary Classes and connection between this and other areas in Model Theory. Click here for more detailed info on BOMMT 2001.
  • Rami Grossberg's Tutorial(27.11.1): From December 5th to December 7th 2001, the "Semillero de Lógica Matemática" sponsors a visit by Professor Rami Grossberg from Carnegie Mellon University. Professor Grossberg is well known for his contributions to Model Theory for Non Elementary Classes. The title of his short course is:
    • [A survey of] classification theory for non elementary classes. Wednesday 12/5, Thursday 12/6 and Friday 12/7. Room 405-202. 10 am to 1 pm.
    • Click here to download the (pdf format) minicourse notes.
  • Grossberg's visit postponed (5.5.1): professor Grossberg had to cancel at the last minute his visit to Bogota. He will be here later during 2001 to teach the courses he offered.
  • Colloquium Talk at Uniandes - Rami Grossberg (23.4.1): Professor Rami Grossberg (from Carnegie-Mellon University) will talk at the Universidad de los Andes Graduate Colloquium, next May 10 at 4 pm, in room AU-304.
  • Rami Grossberg's Short Courses(23.4.1): From May 7th to May 18th 2001, the "Semillero de Lógica Matemática" sponsors a visit by Professor Rami Grossberg from Carnegie Mellon University. Professor Grossberg is well known for his contributions to Model Theory for Non Elementary Classes, and more recently by his contributions to geometric stability theory. The titles of his short courses are:
    • Basics of simple theories, Tuesday 5/8 (4 pm), Wednesday 5/9 and Friday 5/11 (11 am). Room 405-202.
    • [A survey of] classification theory for non elementary classes. Monday 5/14 (9 am), Tuesday 5/15 and Thursday 5/17 (4 pm). Room 405-202.

  • Fernando Zalamea moves to Barcelona(21.4.1): Professor Fernando Zalamea moves next fall for an extended period in Barcelona. Zalamea intends to continue several of his current projects, ranging from history of logic to Peircean existential graphs (with ever more frequent ascents and descents into criticism of culture and the role of logic in this area). Click here for more info (in Spanish only).
  • Finite Model Theory Course (II-2001)(4.4.1): During the second semester (`fall semester' up north) 2001, Professor Julian Mariño will offer a course on Finite Model Theory at Universidad de los Andes. Click here for more info.
  • Prize to Fernando Zalamea (3.4.1): During March 2001, professor Fernando Zalamea was awarded the "VII Premio de Ensayo Literario Lya Kostakowsky", in Mexico City, for his work "Signos Triádicos. Nueve estudios de caso latinoamericanos en el cruce atinoamericanos en el cruce lógica-literatura-arte". Click here for more info (in Spanish only).
  • Mailing List (2.4.1): To make communication between members of the group and interested people easier, we have created a mailing list using YahooGroups. If you want to be registered in our mailing list, please send us e-mail asking for registration to maestrozen@eudoramail.com
  • Set Theory Course (II-2001) (2.4.1): Professor Andrés Villaveces will offer on second semester (`fall semester' up north) 2001 a course on Advanced Set theory. Click here for more info.
